Playa Del Rey is an intimate beachfront community located in Los Angeles’ Westside. Once advertised as “the last stretch of coastal land” in LA, the charming neighborhood is coveted for its sandy beaches, rolling bluffs, and abundant wildlife throughout the protected Ballona Wetlands. Residents are drawn to the bedroom community for its desirable real estate, convenient location, and true neighborhood feel.

Ballona Creek and Marina Del Rey border Playa Del Rey to the north, while the Pacific Ocean makes up the community’s western border. El Segundo is to the south, Playa Vista is to the northeast, and Westchester is to the east. For commuters and business travelers, the beach-side community is only 10 minutes or less from Los Angeles International Airport.

Playa Del Rey real estate was first established in 1921. Then known as Palisades Del Rey, the neighborhood was comprised of custom-built homes. Today, the quaint community is still full of those original homes, along with beach bungalows from the 1940s and newly constructed, modern estate homes. The pristine stretch of beachfront and rolling sand dunes are a large draw to the neighborhood, as is the tight-knit sense of community and location near LAX. Residents enjoy visiting Playa Del Rey’s down-to-earth restaurants, bars, and shops. For outdoor enthusiasts, the Marvin Braude Bike Trail and Del Rey Lagoon Park are located in the desirable neighborhood.
