The name Beverly Hills instantly evokes images of extravagant shopping and world-class real estate. Once a working Spanish plantation, the city is now synonymous with luxury and fine living. Encompassing an area of just under six square miles, Beverly Hills is full of pristinely manicured streets, impeccable homes, and some of the most distinguished retail and dining destinations in Los Angeles.

The city of Beverly Hills is completely surrounded by the city of Los Angeles. More precisely, Bel Air and the Santa Monica Mountains are to the northwest and West Hollywood is to the east. Beverly Hills, along with the adjacent prestigious neighborhoods of Bel Air and Holmby Hills, is part of the “Platinum Triangle”. The affluent city is also one of the “Three Bs”, with Brentwood and Bel Air claiming the other two spots. While Beverly Hills is its own separate city, it is very much influenced by Los Angeles as a whole.

Beverly Hills is home to the Fortune 500 company Live Nation Entertainment. It also hosts the headquarters of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. Interestingly enough, Beverly Hills is also home to the Beverly Hills Oil Field — a continuously working oil field underneath the urban city. The Rodeo Drive shopping district is world renowned and features some of Los Angeles’ most upscale and popular retail stores and restaurants, while the Beverly Hills Hotel and Beverly Hilton are some of the most celebrated hotels in the greater LA area.

Most real estate in Beverly Hills is located in an area known as the “flats”. As the name implies, this area features gently sloping land, large lots, and a variety of homes. Beverly Hills real estate north of Sunset Boulevard generally features more grandiose homes. These magnificent estates are located on spacious lots dotted along picturesque, tree-lined streets. The ample land area leaves plenty of room for lavish outdoor amenities and residences with sprawling floor plans. Unsurprisingly, the city is popular with celebrities and professionals seeking a scenic and comparatively quiet place to call home in the heart of Los Angeles.
