Clarkdale is nestled between Venice Blvd. and Culver Blvd. to the north and south and is bisected by Washington Blvd. Each of the major streets has its own character, and Venice Blvd. in particular has been undergoing a renaissance in recent years. Funky boutiques and restaurants abound on Venice, a thoroughfare that, like most of West L.A.’s big streets, offers an alternative to traveling east to Downtown during heavy traffic.

Most homes in Clarkdale are smaller, but you will find new development and remodeled homes which offer contemporary living options, including green construction and environmentally-friendly lighting and other amenities. Homes may look deceptively modest from curbside, and transform into urban oases once you are inside. Most owners in the area devote their landscaping to their back yards, pools, and spas. The majority of streets in Clarkdale are tree-lined, with well-maintained landscaping and exteriors. You can also find some opportunities for rehabilitation or renovation, including “fixer-uppers” in older bungalows built in the 1940s for people working in west L.A.’s booming aerospace industry.
