Escondido Beach is a small and exclusive neighbourhood of homes on Escondido Beach Road, which is a private street parallel to the beach about four miles west of Malibu Canyon Road, located south of Paradise Cove. One of the landmarks near the beach is the famed Geoffrey’s restaurant, located on the bluff above the beach.
Escondido is the Spanish word for “hidden” and the neighbourhood does have an isolated feel. Homes are not visible from PCH and most frontages along the small road are discreet. Home-fronts face the beach similar to other exclusive Malibu beach-side communities. Homes along Escondido Beach Road may date back to the 1940s, but the majority are custom and modern architectural homes built in more recent decades. Some homes may extend up to 6,000 square feet or larger, including some of Malibu’s largest on-the-beach property. Escondido Beach homes are located directly on the sand.

Escondido Beach is one of the best beaches for swimming and stand-up paddle-boarding in the Malibu area and is adjacent to many protected natural areas including Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy preserves and state and county beaches. The offshore kelp forest and reef are full of fish and other marine life, making the area a haven for scuba, snorkelling, and fishing.
