Latigo Canyon Road is a historic winding canyon and hillside road that travels inland from the Pacific Coast Highway from the beach to the backcountry. The entrance to the road is slightly north of Solstice Canyon across from the Malibu Cove Colony and Latigo Shores Drive.

Latigo Canyon homes are noted for their stunning coastal and mountain views. Homes situated on canyon slopes that are facing the Pacific overlook Malibu Cove. Homes that are farther inland may have spectacular views of the Santa Monica Mountains. Latigo Canyon Road neighbourhoods continue inland as far as Mulholland Highway. Along the way, you will see Colcanyon Estate Winery and inland near Kanan-Dume Road, Calamigos Ranch, a wedding, conference, and retreat destination which the Gerson family has operated in the Santa Monica Mountains since 1947.

One of the gated communities in Latigo Canyon in Malibu Pacifica, a group of 24 luxury homes that overlook the Pacific. Homeowner dues for Malibu Pacifica are approximately $665 a month. The majority of the other homes on Latigo Canyon Road are custom-built homes ranging from approximately 2,000 square feet to 10,000 square feet. A number of residential streets that intersect Latigo Canyon Road feature architecturally unique canyon homes with an unparalleled level of privacy and mountain, canyon and ocean views.

While many Latigo Canyon properties are Spanish, Tuscan, or Mediterranean-inspired designs, a number of other homes are custom-designed unique architectural homes. A number of residences have been built to blend with the Malibu backcountry landscape. Few areas include more opportunities for hiking, trail running, and horseback riding. A number of major trails in the Santa Monica Mountains intersect Latigo Canyon, and the topography includes coastal oaks, sycamores, riparian streams, and chaparral slopes. Elevation in the Canyon will start at near sea level and extend to 2,100 feet.

Latigo Canyon is part of Central Malibu. The nearest restaurants are local landmark Geoffreys and the informal but always delicious Malibu Fish Market. Schools are part of the highly-regarded Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District.
