Newbury Park is sprawled across 21 square miles within the city of Thousand Oaks. Nestled within the Conejo Valley, the town of Newbury Park is conveniently located just 35 minutes from the downtown area of Los Angeles and includes the unincorporated county of Casa Conejo.

Egbert Starr Newbury, the region’s first postmaster, and the neighborhood’s namesake, came to the area in 1871. Numerous fossils and ancient burial sites have been discovered in Newbury Park, primarily within the Santa Monica Mountains area.

As one of the area’s more affluent cities, Newbury Park is home to multi-million dollar homes comprised of four, five or more bedrooms. Situated on gated properties, many of these homes offer stunning views of the mountains and valleys nearby while also providing the desired privacy that many celebrities crave.

This is balanced by the natural beauty that is present within the town. The Potrero Open Space, which includes numerous hiking trails that connect with a network of other trails which lead to the Pacific Ocean, is situated entirely within Newbury Park. About 928 acres of the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area, a wildlife preserve and the country’s largest national park located in an urban area, can be found within Newbury Park. This abundance of rural areas provides ample opportunity to see wildlife such as eagles, bobcats, foxes, hawks, black bears and more.

Overseen by the Conejo Valley Unified School District (CVUSD), several schools have been recognized as top performers including Sequoia Middle School and Sycamore Canyon Elementary School.
