Located at the end of the Balboa Peninsula, homes in the community of Peninsula Point may face Corona del Mar, Balboa Island, or the Pacific. Some homes share breathtaking views of Newport Bay and Pacific waves. The area is one of the older communities in the Newport area, with a number of homes built as vacation getaways in the 1920s up until the 1950s.

Although it is nestled at the end of the Balboa Peninsula, the atmosphere is quiet and can be tranquil, because the Point is located beyond the Balboa Pier and tourist areas. Homes range from small cottages built in previous generations as summer homes and 1950s “Balboa Charmers” to large custom estates and gracious manors with distinctive landscaping and amenities, including some that are noted as among the finest residences in Orange County. Architectural styles include Mediterranean, Tuscan, unique custom-designed mid-century and contemporary steel and glass homes, Spanish, Italianate, and Balinese or Cape Cod. Home sizes may range from modest two-bedroom cottages to 3,500 to 6,000 square foot estate homes. Exterior homes on Oceanfront have beachfront property and the east side of the Peninsula faces the Pacific Ocean. Homes on East Balboa Blvd. may face Corona Del Mar and the Bay, also with beachfront property.

Peninsula Point homes share a Strada that connects yards and enables access to the beach. The Wedge is located at the southern end of the Peninsula, representing the only portion of Peninsula Point that can become crowded when the surf is up (10-20 feet usually during a surge). The local homeowner’s association offers a private beach and boat ramp. You may also boat, surf, bike and walk through the quiet streets. Some of Newport’s favorite restaurants are located on the Peninsula, including the Harborside and Newport Landing. You are close to Newport Center and the inner harbor. Peninsula Point offers some of the flavor of old Balboa Peninsula and pristine beaches for those who call it home.
