Santa Monica

With an enviable coastline that is instantly recognizable in dozens of movies and television shows, Santa Monica is one of Los Angeles’ quintessential beach towns. The coastal city became a famed resort destination by the early 1900s, and its popularity has only continued to grow.  The favorable climate, quiet neighborhoods, and first-class amenities attract families and successful individuals who prefer living by the ocean.

Santa Monica is located along three miles of the beautiful Pacific coastline. The city is bordered by Venice to the south, Pacific Palisades to the north, West LA to the east, and Brentwood to the northeast. The beach is separated from the city by bluffs, which create spectacular panoramic views from Palisades Park and other open areas. Interstate 10 originates in Santa Monica, and the Pacific Coast Highway runs along its western edge.

Santa Monica is home to numerous important corporations. It serves as international headquarters of the Universal Music Group, Hulu, TOMS Shoes, Macerich, and Lionsgate Films. Santa Monica is also a major hub of the gaming industry and was ranked a top-10 city for small businesses. Furthermore, many venture capital-funded startups are currently located in the popular city.

Santa Monica real estate consists of relaxed beach bungalows, luxury condo high-rises, and modern estates. Impressive homes border the beach and are dotted throughout the city. Other quaint neighborhoods are full of charming bungalows, perfect for families and individuals looking for a unique beach vibe. The city is walkable, and the residential streets are quiet.

For fun away from the beach, residents and visitors enjoy the iconic Santa Monica Pier. The 100-year-old landmark offers an amusement park and restaurants. For shopping, the Third Street Promenade is a pedestrian-only street full of stores, restaurants, and bars. It is topped by the Santa Monica Place Mall, which is home to numerous large department stores. The city now enjoys a bicycle sharing program, and for general aviation, the Santa Monica Airport – SMO is located directly in the city. The coastal city is part of the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District and is home to Santa Monica College (SMC). The Los Angeles International Airport – LAX is also nearby.
