In the years since, Westlake Village has become a renowned example of the planned-community concept and a nationally recognized place to raise a family, live, and work. Built around a man-made lake of the same name and surrounded by rolling hills and the Santa Monica Mountains, Westlake Village is a vibrant hub of outdoor activities, beautiful residential communities, and prosperous businesses.
Westlake Village is split between the counties of Los Angeles and Ventura and is comprised of the actual Incorporated City of Westlake Village and a segment in Thousand Oaks. Located approximately 40 miles from downtown Los Angeles and 9 miles inland from the Pacific Ocean, this incredibly safe city offers convenient suburban living, in a natural environment, saturated by green space and dozens of parks.
Westlake Village is home to the international headquarters of the Dole Food Company, K-Swiss, PennyMac Home Loans, and J.D. Power & Associates. While these corporations employ many residents in the thriving city, downtown Los Angeles is also easily accessible via the Ventura Freeway. The Pacific Coast Highway also runs nearby.
