    Huntington Harbour spelled with an “our” is a romantic niche tucked away on the inland side of¬†Sunset Beach in the northern part of “Surf City USA,” Huntington Beach. Comprised of five different islands and numerous luxury homes and yachts large and small, Huntington Harbour offers a slightly different vibe than its neighboring harbors to the south, Newport and Dana. Huntington Harbour’s enclave is bordered by Seal Beach and Sunset Beach.

    Built in the 1960s, Huntington Harbour is a group of channels surrounding five islands packed with luxury homes and private docks. The Harbour is a favorite with standup paddleboarders and kayakers for its intimate nature and abundant seabirds and wildlife. With some of its channels and docks reminiscent of Venice, Huntington Harbour even offers gondola rides. The Harbour has its own Yacht Club, with about 300 members.

    Huntington Harbour’s five islands are Gilbert, Humboldt, Davenport, Admiralty, and Trinidad. The smallest island is Admiralty, with 90 homes. Davenport Island has 227 homes and borders the Huntington Harbour Mall. Gilbert Island has approximately 100 homes which are primarily on the water. Humboldt Island has 335 homes, with a number having view locations overlooking Christiana Bay. Trinidad Island’s homes are generally the largest of the group in Huntington Harbour, ranging from three to six bedrooms, surrounding a small central park. Trinidad Island is also the home of “Ambassador’s Row,” a group of 14 luxury harborfront estates and private yacht docks.

    The shallow harbour channels offer many opportunities for long-distance swimmers, kayaking, standup paddleboarding, and other water recreation. Each island includes at least one harbourside beach which is considered safe for children (often called a “Mother’s Beach”). Huntington Harbour also proudly hosts a holiday boat parade and “Cruise of Lights” in December.

    Depending upon where you choose to live in Huntington Harbour, you can select up to 120-foot boat docs and many different styles of custom harborfront executive and estate homes. While many newer homes feature Mediterranean-inspired design, other homes include Cape Cod, and California modern and architectural designs.
