Just as its name suggests, Palisades Highlands is nestled atop Pacific Palisades, comprised of several diverse neighborhoods. Gated community Country Estates is joined by Palisades Hills, the Lower Highlands, and The Summit.
Today, it’s hard to picture the original plan for the Palisades created by Southern California Methodist Episcopal Church leader Charles H. Scott: a religious commune filled with tents. Although only about five minutes from the “Village,” Palisades Highlands overlooks the ocean with many homes enjoying extensive Pacific vistas.
Palisades Highlands is close to hiking destinations including Santa Ynez and Trailer Canyon trailheads and other areas preserved by the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy. Beaches and the city are a short drive away. Homes range from condominiums to estates, with most built between the 1970s and 2010s. Palisades’ Village is noted for its intimate feel and small-town charm in this enclave that is so close to the city yet so distant in charm and climate.
